Recreational Water - new

Untreated Recreational Waters include rivers, lakes and resevoirs plus the open sea and estuaries. They provide great places to enjoy leisure activities, either in the water or on the surface. Unfortunately they can get contaminated, especially after heavey rainfall. Feacal matter can be washed into waterways and sewers may overflow into drains.

The 2006 Bathing Waters Directive sets out the analysis required in order to classify the water quality as either Excellent / Good / Sufficient or Poor.

  • The Recreational Water Monthly Test analyses for E.Coli, Coliforms and Intestinal Enterococci and AquaCert will interpret the results on the laboratory certificate.
  • The enhanced suite additionally analyses for Blue/Green Algae which is becoming more widespread in recent years.
